February 1, 2014 I had to say my last good buy to the most wonderful Mother and Best Friend ever.  She is at peace and in that I can take solace.  I will miss her terribly.  We did almost everything together.  Bruce and she were also best friends.  He is missing her a lot also.
Dad and I will carry on in the shop.  She would have wanted it that way.
Tomorrow I will go back to work and try to get back into a normal life.  Whatever normal brings now.

 Recent quilt projects for B & B Creations Quilt Shop

Howard Cemetery - Mahaska County Iowa

Bruce and Matthew are doing a wonderful job keeping up the Howard Cemetery.  This is a pioneer cemetery.  I am so appreciative that they want to do this.  It saddens me when I see a cemetery that is not being taken care of.  Thank you guys.

We started this project in April.  Bruce and I worked on evening and the next Saturday we had help from several family members:  Dave and Jane McCombs, Mark and Angela Bacus, Cindy Vos, Stephanie Rus and Matthew Brammer.  The place was totally over grown with weeds and the trees needed trimmed.  We got it all cleaned up minus burning the brush.  It looked much better.  Today it looks nice.  Next step is to finish fixing the fence and then clean up the stones.  A very rewarding project.

Cheyna Marie - 10 months

Hannah Nicole - 2 -1/2 years

The girls during Vermeer 65th Anniversary employee celebration.  They were checking out where Grandma works.
What a wonderful day we had yesterday.  My cousin Carol McCombs Walters and her hubby Shannon spent the day with us going to cemeteries in the area looking for long lost relatives.  We found all that we were searching for.  We have many more to find. Researching family history is so much fun, especially when you have someone else to go with.  My hubby Bruce drove us around and we all had a wonderful time.
Last night more cousins joined us for dinner.  Anita Langford and Mike, Ken McCombs and his daughter Amber.  We had so much fun.  Mom and Dad joined us too.
Today we will be joined by more relatives and tonight will go to the sprint car races in Knoxville.  Then tomorrow we will have our reunion and be joined by even more relatives.
Funny when you get older you enjoy this.  As a kid a reunion was not the most fun.  Today it is so much fun to get together.  I think you appreciate your relatives more as you age.

Happy October
What a busy month.
Hannah turned 2 last Sunday.  We also have a 1-1/2 month old Granddaughter Cheyna living with us.  Our house if always hopping
This weekend Mom and Dad are at Winterset Covered Bridge Festival Quilt Show.  Next weekend we havd the shop hop at the shop.  That will be fun.

I can't wait until Christmas.  I am planning on doing a lot of our gifts myself rather than going out and buying things.  We are working on "practical" and "useful" gifts this year.  It's been fun planning.
Joshua is also working on handmade gifts this year.

Where has this year gone?
I have not done much sewing this year. I did finish a quilt top last weekend.
November 4 is our church's harvest supper. Need to make pies for that and cook a turkey.
I have several projects that must be started soon if I am to finish for Christmas.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mohter's Day
Three simple little words that hold so much meaning.
Mother's are many times not given the credit they deserve.
Mother's give to their families ahead of their own needs. Their deeds many times go unnoticed and unappreciated. Though we don't notice when our laundry is done, our house is clean and our meals are not cooked for us, we do notice when these things are not done.
Why is it that we cannot appreciate all that is done for us?
A friend I went to high school with just recently lost her mother to cancer. Sitting at the funeral hearing all the "special" memories of her mother that she and her siblings had, was definitely eye opening.
However, when the time for memories comes, it is often too late.
I hope that each and everyone who has a living Mother, Mom, Ma, Mum, (whatever you like to call her) takes the time to say "Thank you for ..........................................". You fill in the blank.
Here are some of my thank you's:
Thank you Mom for showing me how to quilt
Thank you for teaching me to give 110% even if it's not appreciated
Thank you for teaching me to do the something, not for the glory of the deed, but just because it's the right thing to do.
Thank you for teaching me to cook, keep a clean house (well, almost a clean house LOL)
Thank you for giving me the gift of loving others, giving me the gift of loving God
Thank you for all that you have done for me, my family and others who have touched our lives
Thank you Mom

Happy New Year - 2010

Happy New Year Everyone
Well actually depends on where you are. LOL
It is still NYE here.
I am working on my sewing room and finding many goodies
I have started (again) on 2 UFOs. I am determined to whittle that number down by 2 per month in 2010.
It is very cold and only to get colder today. They just said tonight there will be a full moon. Rather dangerous combination - full moon and NYE together.
Here's praying everyone stays safe.

Recipe for a Happy New Year - Anonymous
Take 12 fine, full-grown months;see that these are thoroughly free from old memories of bitterness, rancor and hate, cleanse them completely from every clinging spite; pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness; in short, see that these months are freed from all the past - have them fresh and clean as when they first came from the great storehouse of Time. Cut these months into 30 or 31 equal parts. Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time (so many persons spoil the entire lot this way) but prepare one day at a time.
Into each day put equal parts of faith, patience, courage, work (some people omit this ingredient and so spoil the flavor of the rest), hope, fidelity, liberality, kindness, rest (leaving this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad dressing---don't do it), prayer, meditation, and one well-selected resolution. Put in about one teaspoon full of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

A New Year's Prayer
May God make your year a happy one!
Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,
But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making your path easy,
But by making you sturdy to travel any path;
Not by taking hardships from you,
But by taking fear from your heart;
Not by granting you unbroken sunshine,
But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows;
Not by making your life always pleasant,
But by showing you when people and their causes need you most,
and by making you anxious to be there to help.
God's love, peace, hope and joy to you for the year ahead.

We wish you all a good 2010

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Happy Thanksgiving all
The turkey is eaten. The people weigh more (well at least I know I do - oh so full, LOL)
The Christmas tree is up with lights and tinsel. The ornaments have gone AWOL from last year. Hmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where did I put that box? A job for tomorrow to search the attic.
Tomorrow is a big day. Sale at the shop. Search the attic. Put Santa, snowman and trees outside in the yard. Clean to get ready for Saturday's Thanksgiving dinner.
Hope everyone had a wonderful day with their family.
